Schoc Chocolates celebrates 10 years with debut of new tablet and International attention.

Never one to shy away from pushing the boundaries of chocolate flavours, Wairarapa’s Schoc Chocolates will celebrate its 10-year Anniversary with the debut of a new tablet and exciting range of Easter treats.

The Greytown based Chocolate Studio will debut its fennel chocolate tablet featuring roasted fennel seeds in rich, smooth dark chocolate at a series of international events in the coming weeks as well as part of its in-store birthday celebrations. In addition the studio is working hard on a new line-up of special edition Easter treats that will be available from stockists in early March.

Murray Langham, Chocologist and owner of Schoc Chocolates, is looking forward to unveiling the new products at the ISM trade fair in Cologne, Germany, this month (the world’s biggest confectionery trade fair), and in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, in February. During his time overseas Mr Langham will also be visiting key contacts in Germany and Belgium to look at machinery, packaging and to gain new insights in the world of chocolate. He says the timing is perfect with the company celebrating 10 years in business.

‘I am so excited about heading overseas to catch up with colleagues and acquaintances that have helped make Schoc Chocolates what it is today,’ he says. ‘I’m also looking forward to finding out what trends are happening in the world of chocolate and making sure our customers here have nothing but the best.’

Schoc Chocolates opened in Greytown in 2002 with the aim of creating a unique blend of gourmet hand-made chocolates and self-exploration. Mr Langham, a qualified chef, culinary judge and counsellor, also created the expression Chocology, which examines an individual’s choice of centres and shapes above others and determines how these choices can be interpreted to identify habits of behaviour. He has written two books on the subject, one of which has just been sold to Russia to be translated. The other is already translated in German, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian.

‘I set out to combine the joy and health benefits of consuming quality chocolate with a deeper understanding of one’s inner self,’ says Murray. ‘Now 10 years on I am still passionate about pushing chocolate’s boundaries and sharing my passion for creating new and exciting tastes with others.’
‘And the fennel tablet is a good example of this. After trialling it last year, the feedback we received was overwhelming positive so we decided to officially debut the product to coincide with our 10-year Anniversary. We now hope more people can enjoy it.’

While not giving too much away, Mr Langham is equally excited about the Studio’s line-up of Easter special editions for 2013. These include new Easter capsules for Schoc’s funky arty eggs.

The Schoc range includes tablets, truffles, moulded and dipped chocolates, as well as Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter and Mother’s Day special editions. They feature over 85 flavours with the top three being chilli/lime, sea salt and lemon and white. Flavourings are organic and where possible sourced locally.
